LGD Gold Bars
Generally referred to as London Good Delivery Bars, LGD bars are the large types of bullion bars which is being traded throughout the world. These bars are being traded due to a global level by several dealers, central banks, financial institutions, traders and investors. They were first used for trade in the 1919 London Gold Market.
Aside from being called as LGD Bars, they are also referred to as the 400-ounce bars. This is because their gold content usually contains a variation of refined bullion ranging from 350 and 430 ounces. These gold bars have an estimated minimum purity level of 99.5%.
Kilo Gold Bars
This is another type that is commonly available in Europe. These bars are usually preferred by the private ingot investors because they traditionally take the shape of a brick. This is probably the most commonly used bar that can be seen in several treasure gold hunting movies. They usually measure 32.5 ounces. Every year, there is an estimated production of 1 million kilo bars. For this, they are widely seen as the most trade small form of gold bars.
Tola Gold Bars
Another type of gold bar is the Tola, which is widely common in Singapore, Pakistan, the Middle East, and India markets. Usually, these bars weigh about 3.75 ounces and are the most traded bullion bars. Because of its scarcity, these bars are stamped with their own serial numbers. The meaning of its name refers to the dialect which is used to identify the standard weight throughout the subcontinent areas.
Tael Gold Bars
Originally known as a Chinese unit for weight, tael bars usually weigh 1.2 ounces. These bars are highly famous among the different Chinese speaking areas and territories including Taiwan and Hong Kong. Unlike the other forms of gold, the Tael is usually molded in the form of donuts, boats and biscuits. The most popular Tael bar is the famous Five Tael Biscuit, which weights approximately 6 ounces. This was manufactured in Hong Kong and was validated by the governing Chinese Gold and Silver Exchange.
Apart from the above mentioned types of gold bars, there are several other forms that they come in. One of the most popular is Mitsubishi, a Japanese company, which has produced rainbow colored bars ever since the 1990s. Despite the fact that these gold bars are made up of elaborate patterns, they have a purity level of about 75%. The other two categories of these bars are classified as the ornamental and the investment bars.
